After going through a fermentation process in a conventional earthenware, the mix becomes the most powerful detoxifying soybean sauce on earth.
Bok Hae Jeong can be consumed alone, be mixed in hotwater as tea or used as regular soy sauce for cooking.
The main ingredient of Bok Hae Jeong is black soybean, which is used to make the meju (fermented soybean block) used in making soy sauce. Black soybeans, also known as "rat's eye beans," have been used as a medicinal herb since ancient times. They are effective in treating kidney and bladder problems, and have a strong detoxifying effect due to their dark color. When black soybeans are combined with 9 times baked bamboo salt (a purified and condensed solution of boiled soy sauce) that prevents decay of all things, it quickly heals damaged tissues in the body.
Another reason why Bok Hae Jeong is special is that it contains sulfur duck extract, which is good for detoxification. Sulfur ducks are ducks fed with sulfur to remove toxins from their bodies. The extract is made by boiling sulfur ducks for 10 hours and adding 9 times baked bamboo salt to adjust the salt content to 25 degrees, then fermenting the black soybean meju with the extract for over 90 days to make Bok Hae Jeong.
